Just a quick preview of the auto-watering highland chamber I'm building.
Kyle's New Basement Greenhouse
Просмотров 47 тыс.12 лет назад
This is just a quick tour of the greenhouse I just built in my basement. It's currently housing carnivorous plants and a few Tillandsia and one other Bromeliad, as well as a couple other various plants. This was intended to be more of a show of the greenhouse, not any plants, so I'm sorry if that disappoints you, lol.
Drosera spatulata x capensis In Action

Another attempt at timelapsing. This was with a new lens, so largely experimental, and I caught a few things I could definitely improve on. Shot with a Canon T1i, lens was a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM. Used a TI-83 as a ghetto intervalometer. Music is Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata."
Drosera capensis "Red" and 'Albino'

The ant got away... bah... Also, I screwed up the image resizing, so definition may not be stellar. I think I might be starting to get the hang of this, though. Time to get better software than Windows Movie Maker. A number of things went wrong with this one, so I'm not proud of it, but oh well. Music is Schubert's Serenada.
Dionaea muscipula Trap Sealing

Not terribly exciting, but it pretty much accomplished what it set out to do: show the sealing mechanism of the good ol' flytrap. Music is Chopin's Nocturne in E Minor, Op 72 #1.

My first ever attempt at time-lapse photography. I was bummed the plant didn't finish wrapping around the fly, but it's all good. Next time. This is the first of many, I'm sure. Music is Chopin's Prelude in E Minor Op. 28 No. 4.

WOW. You have engineered your own cloud forest. I have that same digital thermometer, works fantastic. Spending time in Big Box Home Improvement centers has paid off.
I don’t understand about the cold air vent
Fantastic work; so impressive! I live in Denver, will you come build one for me?!
Hi kyle, interesting and smart idea. Thanks for sharing, do you mind sharing the set-up of humidifier you are using. This can be an outdoor cheap greenhouse to set up.
I used the same racks to grow mushrooms and the high humidity destroyed them in four months. I’d be interested to know if you suffer the same consequences
do you have any issues with mildew under the carpets?
I love your video very professional and specific and this is exactly I'll be going for thanks a lot..
I was just wondering if you can show a video setting up the fog machine you made. I have made the same exact one but it is not producing fog.
Very nice greenhouse! You did an amazing job!
Do the video with connecting ac
Mold?
Great set up.
Is this just a hobby of yours do you sell the products that you're growing I'm really confused as to why you would spend so much money on a hobby I mean it's one thing if you're producing a product that you can get a resale value on
My only question is with how much you spend on building materials to produce this why didn't you just buy a grow tent that was already purpose-built. It's an interesting build don't get me wrong. But you got to get rid of those compact fluorescent pieces of junk get yourself some 600 or higher Watt HPS is or metal halide or your course you can go with the really expensive LED systems And if you want a better stream of fog coming out of your fogger put a fan controller on your inline reduce the speed of the fan it'll create a better fogging mist
Very nice! Are you going to be adding full spectrum led lights in the near future? I think you would find that to be. Stellar improvement. Otherwise. You killed it.
I learned with those rubber mats if you take a little bit of Clorox bleach and spray underneath them it will help prevent mold growth
how did you make the humidifier ?
Hi. Love your greenhouse design. Is it possible for you to share the design for the humidifier? I am looking to make one for my mushroom area. Thanks.
Anymore vids of the green house?
Awesome set up. I set my seed rack up using the same Lowes rack and reflectix and it works awesome. Blessings
can you post a link to the light you have?
Why did my sundew die?!?! 😢
how does one keep the smell from getting out?
Joe C. Carbon filters
I'd like to build one of these. Could u help me do that? Bluewtr1@hotmail.com. get ahold of me please.
Goddam Kyle!!!
does this take a lot of power
after five years I would love to know how your systems and greenhouse is running! any updates?
Well now you need more plants. Pretty sweet set up.
Ohh that shiny bubblewrap beats the pants off of my painters plastic. What was the cost of just the bubblewrap to cover this thing?
Search "Radiant Barrier Insulation Roll" pretty cheap stuff and does an amazing job.
Depending on what you're using it for the best way is to buy from a grow store black plastic on the outside with white on the inside. You'd be surprised but white is actually more reflective than most metals and they're designed to keep the heat in side and not allow the heat to be admitted into the room. but that's really if you're gardening flowers if your gardening fungus it's not as necessary
By the way if you decide you want to buy that kind of insulation you can buy it at any Walmart Lowe's or Home Depot back in the building material section
Hello Mr. Kyle! I have started building a similar setup to yours (with only 2 racks) but that foil tape seems to adhere to the bubble insulation much better for you than it has for me. How did this growspace end up working out for you?
This is super cool. Very creative. Thanks for sharing!
Really convenient but I hate the look of all those tubes
I noticed someone made a comment about mold, there is an easy remedy that will help guard against it. If you wash things down with Borax-water about once a week or so it should help keep mold to a minimum. It also helps to give the fan blades on any fans a good washing about once a month or so. Love the greenhouse by the way. It's been a couple of years since you posted this, any chance you'd post an update? Would love to see how it's still doing. :D
what speed did you use on the timelapse?
Very nice, what was the device called that controls the humidity and tempt? Where would I get it.
Awesome videos!
I like your green house. Want to make one for my basement. Can you show me where to get the supply. Like the humidity sensor. What you call that. I heard sound like hypertherm. Is that right
epic music+ epic angle of camera: epic slow death.
finally a video not about weed
lol
People do grow other things than just weed
I mean the principle is exactly the same. Same with mushrooms. The knowledge and techniques to grow edible plants and mushrooms are exactly the same for psychoactive ones. A friend of mine accidentally grew a pot plant in his back yard when he tossed a seed while rolling a joint. The seed was apparently viable and he had some explaining to do when his parents noticed a 2 foot tall male pot plant that was just randomly growing in their back yard 😂
I want one it's my favorite sundew out of all of them
I think this would be perfect for Darlingtonia. If you can supply enough light, I've read they thrive with running water. Cool system.
This is something I've thought about and I'd really love to do it. My main concern is the switch failing and flooding the basement, lol. I haven't looked into it, but I suppose I could install two switches for some redundancy. Definitely something I'd like to pursue in the future, would be fantastic for vacationing. Right now, it burns about 3g of water a day and so needs to be filled daily.
Actually very creative layout. Just a thought why not use a Mini PVC Float Valves to fill your pail automatically? use a kit to tap a water line that would fill an ice system in a refrigerator and tie it into the float so when it needs water it fills itself.
I love that sound too. Yeah kind of odd to keep nepenthes wet all the time like that but it does look nice.
I saw your thread on the forum. I was at Lowe's today looking for that mylar stuff but didn't see any. I was thrilled after uploading one of my own videos today to find you had a video up and that it's in my related videos list. I really enjoyed watching this.
It's called reflectix. All the big box stores should have it.
superb setup! (:
@reaperftw thats about 1080 pics if it was 90 minutes even
Looks cool!
Wow !!
nice video. Healthy-looking plants! :D
